Bonjour! Welcome to my 12-day blog series, where I will be sharing 24 lessons I've learnt in 2024. I'm excited to dive in and share these insights with you, so do stay through.👋 |
LESSON ONE
Have you ever had that sinking feeling when you accidentally delete an important file or spend hours searching for something that's nowhere to be found, and you have to start all over again, providing the same information that's been lost or deleted? I've been there too, and I can relate.
Reflecting on my own experiences with new beginnings, I realized that starting fresh is not always easy. However, it is often necessary for growth and progress, -which is why we frequently pray for new blessings, new paths, and new connections with each birthday and new year.
I have come to understand that new beginnings are a process and a journey. They require readiness to let go of the old, accept the new, and allow it to unfold. Letting go is hard but necessary, whether it's a bad habit, a toxic relationship, a wiped WhatsApp memory(as was in my case), or a failed project, releasing the old makes room for the new.
I've learned that new beginnings demand courage. Starting anew can be intimidating, but it's also an opportunity to discover new strengths and talents.
In 2024, I trekked more than I ever have in my life. Due to the bad road, I'd often get dropped off farther away from my destination, forcing me to walk some 25-30 minutes to get home. Some days, I was worn out and frustrated.
One particular day stands out. After a strenuous day, I was dropped off 30 minutes away from home by 9 pm. I grumbled and felt like giving up because to me, every step I took looked futile. It felt like I was no closer home.
But then I learnt a valuable lesson: no matter how tired I am, if I could only just take a step per time, I will get closer to my destination.
This lesson may seem clichéd, but it hit me harder than ever. To get home that day, all I had to do was lift my leg and put it in front of the other, one step at a time.
What's that complex project you've been putting off? Break it down into smaller, manageable tasks. Take it one step at a time, and you'll be closer to completing it.
