Bonjour! Welcome to my 12-day blog series, where I will be sharing 24 lessons I've learnt in 2024. I'm excited to dive in and share these insights with you, so do stay through.π |
LESSON TWENTY-THREE
I've come to realize that many of us keep secrets. Sometimes, we don't even acknowledge that we're hiding something. Whatever your secret may be, remember that it's yours to keep. However, I want to share a lesson I've learnt from observation: hiding and secrecy can be stressful and unfulfilling.
If you find yourself hiding aspects of your life, ask yourself why. Is it fear of judgment or rejection? Are you trying to avoid hurting others? While it's natural to want to protect others, hiding can lead to feelings of restlessness and anxiety.
Take, for instance, being in a relationship that you know your family might not approve of. While it's understandable to want to avoid conflict, hiding can create more stress than necessary. It could lead to a far worse situation where everyone you're hiding things from, discovers the truth and you'd get to live through the trauma of whatever happens.
My message is this: if you're hiding something because you're afraid of what others might think or say, then what you're hiding might not be worth the stress and time. Your secrets are yours to keep, but you don't have to keep doing things you have to hide for. If you can not do it in the presence of one or two persons, then why do it at all?
Be true to yourself, and don't waste your time and energy on secrecy and hiding. Instead, focus on living an authentic life that brings you joy and fulfillment.
LESSON TWENTY-FOUR
In 2024, I gained invaluable insights, particularly about my strengths and weaknesses. By taking risks, engaging in new experiences, meeting people, reading books, listening to podcasts, and learning new skills, I have come to realize that I'm a work in progress. I acknowledge my imperfections and the need for growth.
Each day, I strive to learn and improve, aiming to become a better version of myself. My goal is to ensure that the person you meet today is better than the one you met yesterday, and that tomorrow's version will be even more refined.
