CHAPTER THREE

"It is a great thing to serve the Lord! It is a great thing to serve the Lord! It is a greeeeaat thing to serve the Lord! Oh..."

The voices of the congregation of Light House Church, the Church Yetunde and Betty cited on the road to their friend's Wedding reception, could be heard as they sing and clap in harmony.

From the Church' building, the Church does not seem like it would contain a large number of people, but from the sound that could be heard, one would easily conclude that it is filled with Happy People.

But not for Betty. She would never conclude that a Church is filled with Happy People. She would rather say,

It contains a bunch of hypocrites, who only think about themselves.

"Betty, are you okay?" Yetunde looked at her in concern, when she noticed the change in her -From a bubbling Betty to a fuming one.

Betty raised her head, "Of course, I am."

"Are you sure?"

Betty nodded her head.

After a few minutes of a silent trip, Yetunde saw the need to speak, and so she sighed, and went on speak.

"Do you know that you can not go on hating these people for ever, right? They might have done an awful thing by sending you out of the Church but it's not everyone of them that behave like trash."

"Yetunde, they are all the same. They claim to serve God, but they send away people who they feel is a sinner, since they are all saints, from their midst."

With a shaky voice, "If you see the way these people disgraced me, Yetunde." Betty became emotional.

Yetunde stretched her right hand towards Betty's fisted hand. She opened the fisted palm and slipped her palm, slid her fingers into Betty's to enclose their hands together.

"It's well, Elizabeth." Yetunde turned from the road, within a second, to look at Betty, "Hm?"

Betty nodded, and in tiny voice said, "Thank you."

---

Yetunde entered into the parking lot of the Reception Venue. She did not have to sweat so much to find a parking space, which would have happened, as the Security were doing their job. They gave directions on where and how to park her car, and it was a smooth one.

They both came out of the car, adjusted their dress and dropped their handbags on their shoulders.

Betty swiped her hair behind her ears and fixed an airpod into her left ear. The sun shone on her and she walked to the Event like a woman who has been scarred but yet is determined to move on.

"You are vlogging with your phone right?"  Yetunde asked the moment they were about climbing the 2-stepped staircase that goes into the hall.

"Yes, I didn't bring my camera with me."

The moment they entered into the hall, they had some friends coming over to their place to welcome them.

"Omo!!! Na Miss Lasgidi grace this occasion so?"

"Ahahn! Betty Yetty, Wetin dey sup?"

"Shuuuu! Who I dey see?"

They didn't even allow Yetunde and Betty a breathing space. They hovered round them and directed them to the designated place for 'Friends from Bowen University'.

Yetunde in laughter, "So, you guys never change! Na still the same ol' school behaviour you dey carry about"

They all laughed.

"So, how have you beings been?" Betty asked after the laughter reduced.

One of them looked at her, "You still no sabi pidgin?"

They laughed. It's been year's they saw each other, and it's like been home for them as they weree all tight friends during 'Bowen University' days, only for everyone to be on his lane after Graduation. If not for the wedding that has brought them together, they probably might never have seem each other, until ten years or more, or even less.

"Cut soap for us nah, Betty"

"True, abeg. Miss Lasgidi, the Celebrity"

Betty hissed. "It's not only"

"Really o. There is no one who doesn't about Miss Lasgidi. Ahbi?"

They all nodded and laughed at their jokes.

Tim Jones has been in the same position she's been since she dropped the call from her mother; she laid her head on the piles of file she has left unattended to.

She raised her head from the table, and any one could see that Timeyin had been crying; she has a swollen red eye.

"Lord, forgive me. I disrespected my mum. I'm so sorry.

Heal me from this hurt, so I can forgive and forget."

She cried, as she rendered prayers to the Lord.

"By my stripes, you are healed"

She felt relieved after hearing the assurance her Spirit needed. She picked her phone and called her Dad to ask if he was home. She told him of her plans to come see him and he said he was home.

---

"Daddy, did anything happen between you and mum for her to become like this?"

Mr. Jones looked at Timeyin with a strange look, "I don't know. Why bring up this topic again?"

"Dad, it's not just any topic. It's mother we are talking about here. Your wife, Dad!!"

"She is no more my wife."

"Ah, Dad!"

"Yes, please." Mr. Jones adjusted himself to move closer to Tim.

"You see, Timeyin, I don't know much about the Bible, but I know how to read, and I read in Proverbs 21 verse 8 that, it is better to live alone on a roof, than to live in a house with a nagging woman. Your mother nags a lot. She complains about every single thing. Imagine living with her for two more years and I would have become a Sick man." Mr. Jones looked at Tim and continued talking.

"Please, Betty ehm Tim, forget about your mother"

"Dad! You know it's not possible I do that. Jesus wants a united family, but you guys have separated without even telling us the reason. It's been a year Dad, what happened?

You can tell us, we are not children." Tim kept quiet for a while. "And Dad, came to tell you to go apologize to mother"

"That's never happening..."

Tim cuts him off.

"I'm not here to argue with you, Dad. I have to go now. Thank you for giving me your time." Tim stood up to leave. "And that was a Bible misconstruction there. That Proverbs 21 verse 8 scripture." She pecked him and left.

Betty came out of the hall to get the gift, they bought for the couple, from Yetunde's car. As she opened the car, she heard someone sighed behind her.

"Hi, miss!"
